“Our youngest son was diagnosed as Intellectually Disabled/Low IQ, and although we had been trying everything within our power to help our son, we knew it wasn’t enough. I heard about Kristel through a mutual friend whose son she had helped and knew immediately that we had to contact her to see if she could help our son. After meeting with her, I felt like we now had some hope at increasing my son’s cognitive ability where before we had no hope. We began to see a difference right away. It was like light switches were being turned on in his brain as we watched him have changes, like being able to complete small projects on his own from start to finish or even being able to interact with others on a new level. We have so much faith in Kristel’s brain integration therapy that we have also enrolled our older son who has been struggling in school. I look for him to have some huge breakthroughs. We see it as investing in their futures.”

“The differences I have seen in my 9yr old have been less anger, longer attention span for school work, improved reading and handwriting, improved memorization skills, and overall a better self esteem. Kristel does a great job keeping the child engaged even on rough days and making it fun, which is important in learning. As a parent, I would recommend keeping that in mind when doing exercises and activities at home. Make it fun, think of incentives that are specific to your child, have goals and rewards. It refocuses the attitude from fixing a problem to improving yourself and having fun.”

“The time our high school-aged daughter spent in Cognitive Development Instruction with Mrs. Knaus has been priceless. After years of feeling ill-equipped in our homeschooling journey due to an undiagnosed learning disability, Kristel’s assistance was just what we needed to get started on a good track to embark on the final years of school with our daughter. Kristel’s ability to be able to target the now diagnosed disability, her patience, and her kindness allowed our daughter to feel comfortable learning new and different things that could have potentially been deemed as childish. Kristel engaged her like a capable young lady (with lots of laughs) and never made her feel like there was something wrong with her. We spent years trying different methods to help our daughter memorize her multiplication facts to no avail. Within just a few weeks of consistent practice of the method Kristel implemented, not only did she have many facts memorized with confidence, she could also name from memory all 46 presidents of the United States. After her time with Mrs. Knaus, our daughter’s self-confidence in so many other areas has left us truly delighted. She has started experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and she requests to play family “brain” games. She signed up to play rec soccer, even though she had never played a sport in her life. It has been such a blessing to watch.”

“Prior to starting Equipping Minds with John, our son wet the bed 2 times a week, but it has only happened one time in the past 4 months. Also, he seems to have less fine motor disturbances, improved train of thought, and improved emotional regulation in regard to delayed gratification.”

“Kristel is a phenomenal teacher. She is very patient, very helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and encouraging. The sessions helped our daughter tremendously! I had no idea a brain was capable of memorizing, processing, and taking in so much learning. Yes and yes, we recommend this course to absolutely everyone!”

“After trying several different things to help our preteen with APD and dyslexia, we were very frustrated because I felt like we were missing some key things but didn’t know what we were missing, and it felt like no one was really hearing what we were saying. That’s when we found out about brain training with Kristel. I was skeptical but hopeful that this program would work. Through her testing, listening, and assessing our child, she was able to come up with a plan to meet him where he’s at with a comprehensive brain training program. We were shocked to see results within a couple weeks as our child suddenly became creative and inventive on levels we have never seen before. His confidence started growing before our very eyes. He went from not understanding basic sounds (due to mild sensorineural hearing loss) to a solid phonological awareness and is able to hear and think with background noise whereas it was sheer overload to focus in a noisy room (sound therapy really does work). He went from not being able to follow a simple list of 3 actions to being able to remember and accomplish the list plus add his own things to to it. He is able to foresee cause and effect and use context clues to logically think through things whether it’s tasks, schoolwork or his actions. He is able to relax and not work so hard at life as brain training impacted every facet of our child’s life, not just academics! The brain training is fun and cleverly disguised through a series of exercises, games, and building up primal reflexes. This has been foundational and will help our child succeed in middle/high school and beyond! It’s been amazing to see this transformation taking place in our child! Kristel has been so helpful in assessing what our child needs, adjusting the course based on growth and she is very knowledgeable and professional in each of her sessions! She’s great at making sure that we are comfortable with the process and have everything we need to practice at home on the off-days! Kristel has a fun, naturally engaging, and energetic personality that works so well with kids! We are very grateful (and I’m no longer a skeptic)!”
